SAFE PRE-ECLAMPSIA 2025: Strengthening Early Detection and Prevention

On 25–27 August 2025, Indonesian Prenatal Institute in collaboration with RSAB Harapan Kita successfully held the SAFE PRE-ECLAMPSIA (Screening and Action For Early Pre-Eclampsia Prevention) program. The three-day event, consisting of two days of online scientific sessions and one day of hands-on training, brought together leading experts, clinicians, and healthcare professionals with one shared mission: advancing pre-eclampsia prevention through evidence-based screening and clinical practice.

Online Scientific Sessions

The online component featured in-depth lectures from distinguished speakers, covering the latest guidelines, biomarkers, and screening strategies:

  • Gatot Abdurrazak, MD, SpOG, KFM shared valuable insights on Biochemical Markers and Uterine Artery Doppler for risk prediction.
  • Sadina Pramuktini, MD, SpOG, KFM provided a comprehensive overview of Pre-Eclampsia: Current Condition and Trends, contextualizing both national and global challenges.
  • Dr. Aditya Kusuma, MD, SpOG, M.Sc., KFM delivered several essential topics, including Performance & Guidelines at First Trimester CRL and Clinical Dating, New Biochemical Markers, and the use of Low-Dose Aspirin in Prevention.
  • Adly Nanda Al Fattah, MD, SpOG presented a series of lectures on Second and Third Trimester Guidelines, Combine Screening and Bayesian Approaches, PlGF as a Biomarker, Screening for FGR and Stillbirth, as well as Risk Assessment Tools and Close Monitoring in High-Risk Patients.
  • Andri Welly, MD, SpOG highlighted the role of Maternal Characteristics, History, and Mean Arterial Pressure in refining clinical risk models.

These sessions reinforced how combined screening approaches—integrating maternal history, biophysical assessment, and biomarkers—can raise detection accuracy from 40% with conventional risk tables to over 90%, enabling earlier and more effective interventions.

Hands-On and Coaching Sessions

The final day was held as an intimate, small-group training at Prenatal Center, creating space for direct mentorship and personalized feedback. Participants rotated through five interactive stations:

  • CRL (Crown Rump Length)
  • UtPI (Uterine Artery Pulsatility Index)
  • Ophthalmica
  • Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP)
  • Ultrasound Simulator by Volutracer OPUS

The setting allowed each participant not only to observe but also to practice under the close guidance of facilitators. Adding to the experience, Dr. Aditya Kusuma, MD, SpOG, M.Sc., KFM led a live Pre-Eclampsia Screening Demonstration, bridging theory with real-world application according to FMF standards.

Building Competence, Saving Lives

SAFE PRE-ECLAMPSIA 2025 underscored the importance of comprehensive risk assessment and timely prevention strategies in reducing maternal and neonatal morbidity. By blending the depth of scientific updates with the intimacy of practical coaching, the program successfully strengthened the competence of obstetricians, residents, and general practitioners in Indonesia to implement advanced screening and early interventions.

More than an academic event, SAFE PRE-ECLAMPSIA 2025 reaffirmed a shared vision: that saving mothers and babies begins with accurate, early, and respectful care.
